"I always had a bit of a volatile temper, and all my life people just accepted it as who I was. But early in the year I was losing my temper more than usual, and I felt that this temper was starting to define me (or at least I was letting it). I made the decision that it didn't have to, and that is when I went to see Talia at Starr Psychotherapy. After our first session I walked away with actionable goals, tactics and strategies for dealing with these (what felt like) uncontrollable feelings. Talia gave me the support and coping mechanisms for dealing with the small stuff and helped me control my reactions to the larger triggers. After 6 months I have learned to change my behavior and reactions, I still get mad, but rather than blowing my lid, I deal with my frustrations in a sensible and acceptable way, and I feel so much better about it and myself. Thanks Talia!"
"After moving from England to America I struggled at my new school with the change in culture and having to make new friends. This led to me having problems with controlling my anger and I ended up arguing with people constantly. My school and parents wanted me to see a therapist, but I was extremely reluctant, being concerned about the stigma that I thought was attached to it. My mum found Starr Psychotherapy online and she phoned to make an appointment. Talia was completely understanding about my reservations, and invited my mum along for our first session so I would be more comfortable. Since then I have been seeing Talia on my own once a week and now have my anger fully under control, with her helping me open up more to my peers at school, making new friends, and making me a happier person in general. I'm now even looking forward to going to college in the fall. Even though I used to have my reservations about therapy, I now see it as an extremely positive experience and recommend it to everybody, especially seeing Talia."
“Talia worked tirelessly with my 10 year old son, trying different methods and approaches until she found a way to truely connect with him to make him feel comfortable to share and work on the issues he was facing. Talia's ability to easily engage with children along with her endless patience has made her invaluable to us. The first session I had with Talia, was without my 10 year old son, who was the actual subject of the session. Talia didn't skip and beat and instead sat down to listen to me and then reassure me that we could help him come to terms with his anxiety. She also made clear that she could be flexible and was willing to engage any way that she could. I am not sure she knew at that point, it would mean having most of one of our sessions outside in the freezing cold of winter when one day my son couldn't even make it through the door. Thankfully that was the only time and he now looks forward to every single session."
“You've helped us so much I don't know what I would do without you.”
